8989 Jamboree rod

Opal Polychromatic

Color Description:
This is the first chalcedony silver in the borosilicate palette. It mimics the well-loved chalcedony silvers in the off-hand, furnace-worker's palette. Producing a wide range of earth tones, including dark reds, reddish purples, sunset colors, and browns, Jamboree plays true to its name.

Properties: Opal, striking-luster, polychromatic.

Working characteristics: This silver-based color has a depth and range beyond the other silver colors manufactured at Glass Alchemy, Ltd. Begin to understand Jamboree by working it like any other silver: keep it hot in a neutral flame, while shaping it in a neutral-to-oxidizing flame; let it cool until the soft-orange glow begins to disappear; then strike it in the back of the flame. Afterwards, explore the possibilities described in "Tips" below.

Tips:
Push it, pull it, reheat, encase it. Dot it with another color, clear or frit, reheat it. Each technique yields vastly different color combinations.
