It is also possible to create wisps of pastel blues, pinks and purples. Properties: Medium color saturation, transparent/translucent, striking. Working characteristics: Flame and kiln strike. Try pre-working by gathering in a hot reducing flame. Pull out into rod and use. Tips: Strike in back of flame to develop silver colors. Kiln strike for reds. Beat this color up for best results. |

The UV bulb must be of the Black Light Blue (BLB) type and should be less than one year old. Properties: Low color saturation, transparent, fluoresces. Working characteristics: Can be used with any flame, any heat. Tips: The larger the mass of the piece, the brighter the color will be. |

Opal Polychromatic Color Description: Highly metallic ruby with rainbow metalics. Can create an antique quality to your work. Properties: High color saturation, opal, striking-luster. Working characteristics: Flame or kiln strike. Work very hot. Allow to cool before striking silver colors in back of flame, then kiln strike. Tips: Finished piece will have spots of silver and copper metal. These can be left as-is or buffed to a shine. |
